About our activities
Every one of our sessions challenges the notion that people with dementia can’t learn and enjoy new things. Our members can and do concentrate, learn and have fun, as long as there are no distractions and the delivery is clear. We make sure all our tutors understand this.
Most of our classes are run by professional tutors. We use the money we collect for sessions and subsidise this with our fundraising activities. Our tutors are experts in the fields of art, gardening, golf, archery, botcha and pottery.
Every so often we have a party and invite live musicians to play popular music from different eras. The parties are full of singing and dancing, and we sometimes invite other local organisations to join us.
We enjoy days away, including:
trips to Matfen Hall for golf
Elvaston Bowl’s club
Minsteracres for lunch and activities,
plus lovely party teas at Stocksfield.
There is no membership fee to join Chrysalis. We want everyone to be able to enjoy Chrysalis and not be prevented by the cost. Each session currently costs between £12.
You can pay as you go, or can choose to be invoiced at the end of the month. All the Board members are approachable and would be happy to discuss any individual financial restrictions that may hinder attendance.
We know that it is sometimes difficult for families to plan ahead. So in most cases booking for sessions is not required and members only pay for sessions attended.
